Motivation seems to be an enigma for most. But in actuality it is quite simple.
I’ve figured out why it is that most people find it hard to get and stay motivated.
I’ll share with you how to find the motivation to succeed.
But remember, this is practical psychology. Practical psychology deals with the objectivity of self in conjunction with ways to pragmatically apply principles for self development.
If you find motivation it will be where you least expect it. It’s also going to take a lot of introspection.
It’s going to require that you uproot your life in ways that you haven’t had your life uprooted before. YOU are going to be doing this overhaul yourself as opposed to life circumstances revealing certain things about yourself.
1-Be honest about what you want
Remember that lying is the devil. What exactly is it that you want? Be honest about what you want.
You want to be rich? How about famous?
You want a house in every single country? Just be honest.
Many of us aren’t honest about what we want because we were brainwashed to betray ourselves.
We were taught that wanting what we want is not good. We were made to feel guilty to aspire for more than what we were given.
But I’m a true believer in “ask and you shall receive” like the Good Book says.
If you want something, focus on it. Don’t jump to go after it just yet. Focus on the thought and feeling of what you want.
Is that what you truly want or is it what you were conditioned to want? If you truly want it then all you need to do is follow the next step.
Finding out what you want is going to require that you do some deep soul searching. You’re going to have to dig. You’re going to have to leave that job, leave that relationship, leave your family(if you don’t have kids) to travel across the world to taste as many things as you can.
How will you know what you want if you haven’t tried a bunch of things? And when you find what you want, it’s okay that it’s not what everyone else wants!
Some people don’t want to have a family. There’s people that want to go off to live in a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere.
Some people want to own multiple businesses. Some people truly want nothing at all.
This is where your motivation comes from.
Your motivation comes come within. Motivation is self generated. It doesn’t come from some an outside source.
When you know what you want, you’re motivated by it. The more honest you are about what you want, the closer you get to knowing what you want. If you actually lock in on what you want you will be motivated by it for life.
This is why completely uprooting you life to find it is important. We all came into this world with an emotional guidance system that guides us to what we want.
But as I mentioned earlier it was covered up by the brainwashing of other people’s opinions.
Our parents projected their ideas of success into us then we became their “mini mes.”
2-Just go for it
If you’re looking for permission to go after what you want, grant yourself permission.
There’s no way you can expect others to give you the permission for what you want to do because they don’t truly know you like you know you.
As a matter of fact, people who haven’t done the work of uprooting their lives to find out what they want to do will try to stop you from going after what you want.
They’re going to hate on you because you remind them of the work they still have yet to do.
They will try everything in your power to throw you off your game. Your job is to block all of that out, go after what you want and live life on your own terms.
3-Stay persistent
Don’t quit. It’s hard to quit when you’re motivated. And it’s hard not to be motivated when you’re doing what you want.
If there’s a degree to which you want to be successful in your chosen craft, stay persistent. It will come eventually.
You want to know the secret to staying persistent? Loving the process.
When you love the process, the success and all the accolades will come because, ironically, you’re not focused on the notoriety.
You’re focused on getting better. When you’re focused on getting better people will organically come around to watch.
They’ll want to learn from you.
They’ll want to be like you.
You will have created a brand for being unique then you can pay it forward by being honest to them about what it takes.
Motivation comes from finding out what your deep affinity is.
Find it and do it.
