Vlog 8 | Stoicism: The Dichotomy Of Control

Reading Time: < 1 minute
What we control vs What we don’t control

In this video we briefly discuss the dichotomy of control. The dichotomy of control is one of the pillars of stoic philosophy.

The dichotomy of control is the differentiation between what we control and what we don’t control.

Stoic philosophy allows for us to easily identify the two in order for us to place emphasis on what we control.

This is for the express purpose of living life peacefully. After all, what’s the point in being miserable over things that are out of our control?

Amongst things that we control, our judgement of circumstances is one of the most important. Understanding this concept of control allows for us to live from a place of power. Not allowing us to fly off the rails and give away our mental energy by focusing on the wrong things.
